MANOR COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER WINS ESAC OPENER VERSUS CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (4-1-0 Overall, 1-0-0 Eastern States Athletic Conference) freshman midfielder/defenseman Saw Htoo (Philadelphia, PA/Mastery Charter) scored two first-half goals as the Blue Jays defeated United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II Central Pennsylvania College (3-6-0, 0-2-0), 5-2, in its conference opener.

Junior midfielder Eddie Fortescue Jr.'s (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) throw-in went to Htoo inside the 18 and his head shot went into the middle of the net for his first collegiate goal (18:35).  The Blue Jays scored the second goal off of a Central Pennsylvania turnover around the six-yard line.  Fortescue Jr. passed it to freshman forward/defenseman Doucoure Kounda (Philadelphia, PA/Benjamin Franklin).  Kounda kicked it into the middle of the net for his third goal of the season (23:23).  Junior forward Abubakkarr Bangura's (Philadelphia, PA/John Barttam) corner kick went to Htoo and he kicked into the middle of net for his second goal of the match (26:11).  Junior midfielder John Levy's (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) pass from around midfield went to Fortescue, Jr. inside the 18.  Fortescue Jr. kicked into the middle of the net for his seventh goal of the season (32:23).  Central Pennsylvania scored on freshman midfielder Jaeger James scored on a penalty kick after a hand ball foul inside the 18 (43:17).   Manor led at halftime, 4-1.  The Blue Jays outshot the Knights, 19 (13 on goal) to 11 (five on goal).

Former Manor and two-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III First-Team All-American midfielder/forward Mark Colville (Philadelphia, PA) (2012-2013) was recognized at halftime with a banner for his 131 career points during a midfield ceremony with current and past Blue Jays and family and friends watching.  This banner will hang in the Mother of Perpetual Help Hall Gymnasium.

The Blue Jays scored its only second-half goal when Fortescue Jr.'s pass inside the 18 went to Levy around the six.  Levy kicked into the upper right-hand corner of the net for his second goal of the season (73:05).  The Knights finished off the scoring off of a turnover around the 18.  Freshman midfielder/forward Jake Philippe passed it to JamesJamJam.  James kicked it into left the side of the net for his second goal of the match (88:34).  Manor outshot Central Pennsylvania, 18 (13 on goal) to eight (one on goal), and 37 (26 on goal) to 16 (six on goal) for the match.

Series Record: This is the first match-up between the two schools when complete season-by-season schedules became available for the 2008 season.

Next Match: Manor hosts USCAA Division II and ESAC member Williamson College of the Trades (2-2-0, 0-1-0) on Tuesday, September 27 at 3:30 p.m. in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  The Blue Jays lead the season series versus the Mechanics, 5-0-0 (2-0-0 at home).  Manor swept Williamson in 2021, 4-1 (September 27 at Manor) and 4-0 (October 14 at Williamson).
