JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (3-1-0) freshman forward/defenseman Doucoure Kounda (Philadelphia, PA/Benjamin Franklin) scored two second-half goals as the Blue Jays defeated National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III University of Valley Forge (1-5-0), 4-3.

The Blue Jays previously played an NCAA school when they hosted Division III Gwynedd Mercy College (now Gwynedd Mercy University) on August 28, 2006.  They shut out the Griffins, 4-0.  Manor was an Eastern Pennsylvania College Conference (EPCC) member at the time.

Following a Valley Forge corner kick, freshman Victor Molina opened up the scoring with a kick from around the 18-yard line into left side of the net (3:33).  Freshman Eric Henshaw Jr. added to the Patriot lead when he received a pass from freshman John Sumo and kicked it into the left-center part of the net (23:05).  Manor cut the lead in the half less than 30 seconds later on junior midfielder Eddie Fortescue Jr.'s (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) penalty kick after he was fouled inside the 18 (23:34). It was his sixth goal of the season.  Henshaw Jr. scored his second goal of the match and got the Valley Forge lead back to two when he kicked it into the middle net from around the 18 (43:18).  Manor trailed at halftime for the first time this season, 3-1.  The Blue Jays outshot the Patriots, 10 (five on goal) to nine (seven on goal).

Manor began the second-half comeback when a corner kick went to junior defenseman Gabriel Elliott (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford).  His header went to Kounda and his head shot went into the right side of the net for his first collegiate goal (61:59).  The Blue Jays tied the match when freshman midfielder/defenseman Saw Htoo's (Philadelphia, PA/Mastery Charter) pass from outside the 18 went to .junior forward Abubakkarr Bangura (Philadelphia, PA/John Bartram).  Bangura's pass went to Kounda who kicked into the right side of the net for his second goal of the match (70:00).  The Blue Jays' game-winning goal came when sophomore defenseman's Mamadou Ba's (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Learning Center) kick from around midfield bounced off the head of a Valley Forge defenseman and into the middle of the net (89:00).  Manor scored all three second-half goals and outshot Valley Forge, nine (five on goal) to eight (four on goal), and 19 (10 on goal) to 17 (11 on goal) for the match.

Series Record: This is the first match-up between the Blue Jays and Patriots.

Next Match: Manor hosts United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II Central Pennsylvania College (3-5-0 Overall, 0-1-0 Eastern States Athletic Conference) in its ESAC opener on Saturday, September 24 at Noon in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  This is the first match-up between the two schools when complete season-by-season schedules became available for the 2008 season.
