MANOR COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES ROADRUNNER CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP TO NATIONALLY-RANKED MONTGOMERY COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

SEWELL, NJ—Montgomery County Community College (12-0) freshman guard Matt Compas scored 18 points as the nationally-ranked Mustangs defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (7-4), 81-65, in the Roadrunner Classic Championship, hosted by NJCAA Division III Rowan College South Jersey-Gloucester. 

Montgomery County entered the game ranked third in the latest NJCAA Division III poll (November 29, 2021). 

The Mustangs led 42-33 at the half.  Sophomore forward Rahmaad Dejarnette (Chester, PA/STEM) led both teams with 11 points.  Compas led Montgomery County with 10 first-half points. 

Montgomery County outscored Manor in the second half, 39-32. 

Compas was named Roadrunner Classic Most Valuable Player.  The Mustangs have won 23 straight regular season games, dating back to December 11, 2019 (Montgomery County did not play in 2020-2021).

Manor's five-game overall winning streak was snapped in the loss.  It was the longest since they won eight straight from December 2, 2017 through December 19, 2017.

The Blue Jays played in its first In-Season Tournament Championship Game since 2008 when they were in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (EPCC).  They defeated Luzerne County Community College, 75-47, in the Turnpike Tournament.

Manor's 7-4 won-loss record before the school's Winter Break is their first winning mark since 2017 (12-3).

Individual Statistical Leaders: Dejarnette led both teams with 19 points and four blocked shots.  He also had "double-double", pacing the Blue Jays with 11 rebounds.  Dejarnette also contributed leading the team with three steals.  Sophomore guard Isaiah Leonard (Philadelphia, PA/Motivation) scored 18 points and paced both teams with seven assists.  Sophomore forward Manny Alvarez (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) added 16 points.

Freshman guard Sami Wylie led both benches with 12 points.  Freshman guard Jalen Cary also came off the bench and scored 11 points.  Sophomore guard Nigel Cooke paced the Mustangs with 11 rebounds and four assists.
