MANOR COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL WINS FINAL HOME GAME BEFORE WINTER BREAK VERSUS DELAWARE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (6-3) sophomore guard Eddie Fortescue Jr. (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) led both teams with 26 points as the Blue Jays defeated NJCAA Division III Delaware County Community College Phantoms (3-3), 85-70.

Trailing 4-2 with 18:20 left in the first half, the Blue Jays went on 16-3 run over a 4:00 stretch and opened up its largest of the lead of the first half (18-7) with 14:20 remaining when sophomore forward Rahmaad Dejarnette (Chester, PA/STEM) made a layup with an assist by sophomore guard Isaiah Leonard (Philadelphia, PA/Motivation).  The Phantoms answered with 20-2 run over next 4:47 and they opened up a 27-20 lead with 9:33 remaining when sophomore guard Marvin Freeman made a three-point basket with an assist by freshman guard Chase Johnson.  After Dejarnette made a tip-in with 8:33 left (27-24), Delaware County went on an 8-2 run over the next 3:53 and they took its largest lead of the game (35-26) when freshman guard Jason Dunn made a pair of free throws.  Manor twice got within three points (37-34 and 39-36), but, Delaware County led 43-39 at the half.  Dejarnette led both teams with 13 first-half points.

Both teams exchanged leads within the first nine minutes of the second half.  Freshman guard Lassana Doumbia's three-point basket gave Delaware County a 58-54 lead with 12:32 remaining.  Dejarnette stole the ball from sophomore forward Shawn Mendez.  Fortescue Jr.'s layup, with an assist by sophomore guard Malik Clark (Philadelphia, PA/Boys' Latin) gave Manor the lead for good, 60-58, with 10:46 left.  After Mendez' layup, with an assist by Williams, with 9:54 remaining was the closest the Phantoms got for the remainder of the game (62-60).  The Blue Jays answered, scoring 15 straight points over the next 3:42, concluding with freshman guard Sam McFarlane's (Abington, PA/Abington) free throw with 5:15 left.  Altogether, Manor went a 23-2 during a 7:17 stretch between 12:32 and 5:15 remaining).   The Blue Jays took its largest lead (85-68) on Leonard's free throw with 1:30 left.  Manor outscored Delaware County in the second half, 46-27.  Fortescue Jr. led both teams with 20 second-half points and Dejarnette added 12 for the Blue Jays.  They combined for 32 of the 46 second-half points.  Freeman paced Delaware County with 10 second-half points. 

Individual Statistical Leaders: In addition to Fortescue Jr., Dejarnette scored 25 points.  Sophomore forward Anthony Floyd (Philadelphia, PA/Engineering and Science) led Manor with eight rebounds.  Leonard led the Blue Jays with nine assists and six steals.

Dunn and Williams scored 18 points each for Delaware County.  Mendez had a "double-double" with 11 points and led both teams with 21 rebounds.

Blue Jays Continue Winning at Home: This was the Blue Jays' final game before the Winter Break.  They enter the break with a 4-0 record.  The last time Manor entered the break undefeated from home was in 2017 when they were 8-0. 

Season Series (Since 1994-1995): The Blue Jays are 28-9 overall (15-3 at home, including eight straight wins) versus the Phantoms since the 1994-1995 season (2001-2002 season is unavailable), including six straight wins.  Before this game, Manor previously played Delaware County on November 30, 2016 (Manor won, 93-60, at Widener University.  Also before this contest, the Blue Jays previous home game versus the Phantoms was on December 17, 2015 (Manor won, 98-70). 

Manor versus NJCAA Division III: Manor is 22-11 overall (15-2 at home) versus NJCAA Division III schools since the 2008-2009 season.

The Blue Jays versus NJCAA Region XIX Division III: The Blue Jays are 21-9 overall (14-1 at home) versus Region XIX Division III schools since 2008-2009.

Next Game: Manor plays Williamson College of the Trade (1-6) in the Roadrunner Classic, hosted by Rowan College South Jersey-Gloucester 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 in Sewell, New Jersey.  The Blue Jays are 5-0 overall (3-0 on the road and neutral site) versus the Mechanics.  Manor defeated Williamson in its previous match-up, 83-78, on November 30, 2021 in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  The Blue Jays are 7-7 in In-Season Tournaments since the 2006-2007 season.  Manor finished third in the Brandywine Tournament, hosted by Pennsylvania State University-Brandywine, on November 12 and 13, 2021.
