MANOR COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES BRANDYWINE TOURNAMENT GAME VERSUS PENN STATE-BRANDYWINE

MEDIA, PA—Pennsylvania State University-Brandywine (2-1) sophomore guard/forward Jamar Wright came off the bench to lead the Nittany Lions with 15 points as they defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (1-2), 87-84, in the Brandywine Tournament.

There were five ties and four lead changes in the first half.  Brandywine took the lead for good (12-10) when senior guard/forward Bryce Barrouk made a layup with 11:45 left in the first half.  The Nittany Lions led as much as by 11 points (25-14) with 8:07 remaining on a sophomore guard Devon Jones layup with an assist by junior guard Tim Mattern.  Manor chipped away at Brandywine's lead and went on a 10-3 run over the next 2:26 and they trailed 28-24 on sophomore guard Isaiah Leonard's (Philadelphia, PA/Motivation) two made free throws.  The Blue Jays got as close as two points (38-36 with 1:05 left on Leonard's made free throws and 40-38 with 0:32 remaining on freshman forward Enoch Clark's [Clearwater, FL/Pinellas Park]) layup.  Brandywine led 42-38 at the half.  Leonard led both teams with 12 points.  Sophomore forward Rahmaad Dejarnette (Chester, PA/STEM Academy) already had a "double-double" with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions opened up another double-digit lead (53-40) with 17:56 left on a senior guard Jordan Graves layup.  The Blue Jays answered with an 11-2 run over the next 3:48 and got within three points (56-53) on Enoch Clark's free throws.  Brandywine opened up another double-digit lead (81-70) with 4:22 remaining on Graves' free throws.  The Nittany Lions led by seven (87-80) with 0:15 left on Barrouk's free throw.  Leonard's layup with 0:08 remaining got the Blue Jays within five (87-82).  Following a Manor timeout, sophomore forward Anthony Floyd (Philadelphia, PA/Engineering and Science) stole sophomore guard/forward Colin Hockenbrock's inbound pass and made a layup (87-84) with 0:04 left.  Mattern missed both of his throws and Floyd's defensive rebound went to Leonard.  Leonard's game-tying three-point attempt at the buzzer went off the backboard.  The Blue Jays outscored the Nittany Lions in the second half, 46-45.  Enoch Clark and Leonard scored 12 and 11 second-half points, respectively.  Wright scored 10 for the Nittany Lions.

Individual Statistical Leaders: Leonard led both teams with 24 points.  Enoch Clark (19 points and 11 rebounds) and Dejarnette (14 points and led both teams with 18) each contributed "double-doubles".  Sophomore guard Eddie Fortescue Jr. (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) scored 10 points and paced Manor with five steals.  Floyd led both benches with 10 rebounds. 

In addition to Wright, Barrouk contributed a "double-double" with 14 points and team-leading 10 rebounds.  Hockenbrock and senior guard/forward Ketquan Gatewood scored 11 points each.  Junior guard Johnta Dunson scored 13 points off the bench for Brandywine.

Season Series: The Blue Jays are 0-2 overall (both on the road) versus the Nittany Lions (since the 2002-2003 season). 

Manor versus the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC): Manor is 6-5 overall (4-5 on the road and at neutral sites) since the 2003-2004 season.  Prior to this game, the Blue Jays previously played a PSUAC school on November 8, 2014 (101-91 win versus PSU-York at Manor). 

Next Game: Manor plays Cheyney University (3-3) in the Brandywine Tournament Consolation Game 1:00 p.m. Sunday November 14, 2021 in Media, Pennsylvania.  This is the first match-up between the two schools.  The Wolves lost to the Berkeley College (New York) Knights (1-0), 88-78, in the Brandywine Tournament.
