JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College announces the hiring of Daryl Nelson as its first Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Head Coach in school history by Director of Athletics John Dempster.

Nelson's previous coaching experience included: University of the Sciences (NCAA Division II) Assistant Track and Field Coach (2016-2018), Boys' Latin High School Head Track and Field Coach (2013-2015), La Salle University (NCAA Division I-AA) Defensive Back and Special Teams Football Coach (2006-2007), and St. John Neumann and St. Maria Goretti High School Head Track and Field Coach (1997-2000).

He was also the Recreation Leader 3/Track and Field Chair of the City of Philadelphia Parks and Recreation – West Philadelphia District 8.

Nelson is currently a fifth grade teacher at West Oak Lane Charter School in Philadelphia.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management from Temple University in 1992.  Nelson received his Masters of Education degree in Multicultural Education from Eastern University in 2003.

Dempster: "To select a coach to for our first ever Track and Field program was not an easy task.  I knew what I was looking for and it was quite demanding.  I needed a leader, an athletic architect, someone who understands our athletic message and a person of faith (in addition to other things).  Daryl Nelson has everything I wanted and more.  His positive presence on campus is the added "shot in the arm" we've needed here in athletics.  I'm looking forward to hearing his saying more often as the days and months go by.  So as Daryl would say, 'Let's go'!'"

Manor begins its inaugural season in Spring 2019.
